Our Commercial section shows just some of the areas of expertise. From floor cleaning, polishing, dust proofing, through to timber floor sanding and resealing we hope to offer a suitable solution for most requirements and budgets. Please call us if your exact need is not listed. Even if we can't complete the work ourselves, there's a good chance we know someone who can.
Please browse through our photo pages to see examples of some of the timber floor projects we have worked on. Below we have identified one of the school projects we've done and then scroll down to see more about Village Halls and Churches.
School Floors
Finlay and Son are well used to working during the school holidays, traditionally a time for major renovation and maintenance of gynmasiums, dining halls etc.
We can touch up and replace existing court line markings, or where the floor is undergoing a complete refurbishment, arrange for new courts to be marked out.
This school corridor was refurbished in December 2002 and has upwards of 500 pupils, parents and staff using it on a daily basis. No further refurbishment has been necessary since then.
On new refurbishments we can offer a choice of seals dependent upon your own operational requirements.

An adjacent classroom in the same school, although completed more recently, shows a typical before and after situation with a tremendous transformation !

And just to show the difference between the corridor and a classroom we've not yet done ........

Village Hall Floors
We understand that gaining funding can be a time consuming process, so if you would like a quote now to refurbish your floor, we are happy to issue a price that will be held for 12 months, thus allowing you to secure grants etc.
Again, a lot of village hall work is carried out during school holidays as of course the income you enjoy from playgroups, community classes should not be interrupted, so we do get booked for school holiday periods some months in advance.
Once the floor has been refurbished we can handover to your caretaker, help upgrade your daily maintenance equipment, return each year to check the condition of your floor and offer our own periodic maintenance package to keep the floor looking great.

Here we have a village hall which is a Granwood Composite block floor. Refurbished early in 2007, the lines were refreshed and 3 coats of "Granguard" heavy duty seal applied.
The picture on the left below shows a wood strip floor which was uncovered beneath 30 years of old polish, dirt and seal. The one on the right is a thriving village hall, used everyday by playgroup, evening badminton classes and most weekends is booked out for various functions.

Church Floors
Church floors are also often completed during August, one of the less busy times of the religious calendar. We would be pleased to talk to you about your requirements and have often completed work around existing services, accommodating short notice changes etc.
Here we have a Church Headquarters in central London which underwent a major floor refurbishment in 1997. Meeting Halls, Corridors and adjacent areas.

A Church Hall in Hertfordshire which received "fire damage", - the before and after photographs.
