The main enemies of wooden flooring are excessive and prolonged moisture and grit. Try and ensure a good quality doormat is used as much as possible when entering from outside to keep dirt out. Keep mats cleaned regularly to keep them working efficiently.

An effective entrance mat will remove dirt and moisture from shoes as it is walked over. It will hold onto the dirt and moisture to prevent it being tracked off the mat and into the building as subsequent people walk over the mat.

Recommended Care and Maintenance for Wooden Flooring

Once your floor has been renovated it is well protected with a surface finish, however, regular cleaning is the key to keeping it looking attractive for years to come.

It can be maintained by simply sweeping and/or damp mopping using a floor maintainer.

Once the final coat of floor seal has been applied, you should allow it to fully cure for a minimum period of 5 days, especially before implementing any maintenance regime or covering the floor with rugs / carpets.

Some tips to avoid damage to the floor:

  • Place mats at external doors to reduce the amount of debris and grit entering onto the floor surface, keep it regularly cleaned;
  • Don’t use too much water when cleaning, water can cause the floor to swell, warp or turn grey;
  • Don’t use any abrasive products like “Flash” or “Cif”, they can dull the surface finish;
  • Use a reputable cleaning solution, or enhance the floor with a polish / floor dressing;
  • Remove spills as quickly as possible, keep the floor swept or vacuumed regularly to avoid any grit acting as an abrasive on the surface;
  • Apply felt feet protection to chair and table legs, renew when necessary

Novacare Floor Maintainer

Novacare floor maintainer is a cleaning fluid with a protective residue, which cleans, protects, polishes and leaves a pleasant fragrance ~ all in one operation.

It can easily be applied, without leaving streak marks and dries quickly and to a pleasant semi-gloss shine / finish.

Regular use of Novacare saves the need for re-application of the Nova Long-Life floor dressing.

Initial treatment ~ for best results, any old emulsion polish should be removed using a polish remover. Nova Long-Life floor dressing should then be applied to provide a base, priming treatment.

For floors already primed, simply sweep or vacuum away loose dirt and litter and for mopping purposes, use 200ml of Novacare per 5 litre of cold water, apply a thin layer onto the floor. Leave to dry. Also use ready diluted in a clean spray bottle for spot cleaning.

Longlife Floor Polish

Longlife Floor Polish/Dressing is suitable for use on vinyl, linoleum, sealed cork and sealed wood floors. Can easily be applied by mopping. For a brilliant, long lasting shine.
Longlife is ideal for ease of application and maximum durability.

It dries to a high-gloss finish without the need for machine buffing,  combining top quality products for toughness and durability, the Nova Longlife remains clearer and brighter even in heavy traffic areas, in wet or dry conditions.

Two coats are adequate for most floors and dirt and heel / scuff marks can be removed by simply wiping away. Excellent underfoot safety is also achieved.

Initial treatment ~ clean floor thoroughly, strip off old polish with a polish remover. (A newly sealed floor needs no other preparation than time to allow the sealant to fully harden before the application of the polish ~ upto 5 days is recommended.)

Simply apply two thin “neat” coats with a mop and leave to dry.
